Gorakhpur Mahotsav: A Grand Celebration of Culture, Talent and Traditions

Every year, Gorakhpur Mahotsav brings together the city's rich cultural heritage, local talent, and festive spirit in one grand celebration. The festival offers a vibrant mix of cultural performances, competitions, trade exhibitions, and local flavours, making it one of eastern Uttar Pradesh's most awaited events.

Known as the city of Mahayogi Guru Gorakshanath Ji, Gorakhpur has long been an important centre of spirituality and culture. Reflecting this vibrant identity, Gorakhpur Mahotsav is celebrated every year from the tenth day of Krishna Paksha in the month of Magh to Makar Sankranti, bringing together people of all ages for days filled with art, entertainment, and community celebrations.

The Mahotsav has grown into a large public festival featuring a mega trade fair alongside a wide range of activities. Children participate in academic, sports and inter-school cultural competitions, while women also take part in a variety of contests that encourage creativity and participation. The festival also provides a valuable platform for local artists to showcase their talent before a larger audience.

One of the biggest highlights of the Mahotsav is its lively cultural evenings. From energetic Bhojpuri Night to dazzling Bollywood Night, the stage comes alive with performances by renowned national and international artists, creating an unforgettable experience for thousands of visitors.

No visit to Gorakhpur Mahotsav is complete without trying local favourites such as the city's famous Tehri samosas and Ghaati, which add authentic flavours to the festive experience.

Blending culture, entertainment, local talent and community participation, Gorakhpur Mahotsav beautifully reflects the spirit of the city while offering visitors an opportunity to experience the traditions and hospitality of eastern Uttar Pradesh.
