Shri Jagannath Ji Fair, Alwar

The Shri Jagannath Rath Fair of Alwar is one of the district's most significant religious and cultural events. The fair is marked by the grand procession of the beautifully decorated chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Sitaram Ji, and Goddess Janki Ji, drawing thousands of devotees and visitors every year. Religious rituals, devotional music, cultural performances, traditional handicraft stalls, and local delicacies create a vibrant festive atmosphere throughout the celebration.

Lord Jagannath is revered as a divine form of Lord Krishna, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, and is worshipped along with Lord Sitaram Ji and Goddess Janki Ji. The annual Rath Yatra dedicated to Lord Jagannath is one of India's most celebrated religious traditions, symbolizing devotion, equality, unity, and community participation. The Procession is carried out in the historical Indra Viman, Which is a Chariot beautifully embellished and decorated traditionally. The Rath Yatra Festival follows different traditions and rituals than those at Puri. Here, it is a part of annual wedding celebration between Lord Jagannath Ji and Godness Janki Ji at Roopbass.

The Alwar district has preserved its unique traditions through a variety of fairs, festivals, and folk arts, making it an important cultural destination in Rajasthan. More than a religious gathering, the fair serves as a platform to showcase Alwar's cultural richness, communal harmony, and living traditions. It attracts pilgrims, tourists, and cultural enthusiasts from across India, offering them an opportunity to experience the district's spiritual legacy and warm hospitality. The Shri Jagannath Rath Fair plays a vital role in preserving local traditions while promoting religious and cultural tourism in Alwar, making it an integral part of the district's cultural identity.
