Experience Datia Gaurav Divas (Peetambara Mai Jayanti)

Celebrate the spiritual grandeur and cultural pride of Datia Gaurav Divas (Peetambara Mai Jayanti) in the historic city of Datia. Observed every year on 4th May alongside the sacred Maa Pitambara Prakatya Mahotsav, this vibrant festival is dedicated to Maa Pitambara Peeth and reflects the deep devotion and cultural spirit of the region.

Organized with great enthusiasm by local authorities and cultural organizations, the celebration combines spirituality, devotion, literature, music, and traditional festivities. The festival draws thousands of devotees and visitors who gather to witness the grand Rath Yatra, devotional ceremonies, and colorful cultural programs that make Datia come alive in shades of Pitambar yellow.

The Festival Experience

From the early hours of the morning, Datia transforms into a vibrant spiritual destination filled with devotion and celebration. Streets, homes, and marketplaces are decorated in yellow—the sacred color associated with Maa Pitambara. Yellow flags flutter across the city, while beautifully designed rangolis adorn entrances and public spaces, creating a festive atmosphere.

The highlight of the festival is the magnificent Rath Yatra of Maa Pitambara, which begins from the main gate of Maa Pitambara Peeth and proceeds through the major roads of the city before reaching the stadium grounds. Inspired by the famous Rath Yatra of Jagannath Temple, the grand procession is attended by more than one lakh devotees and visitors.

Local residents enthusiastically pull the divine chariot of Mata Rani while devotional chants, bhajans, and traditional music echo throughout the city. The atmosphere is filled with spiritual energy as devotees gather in large numbers to seek blessings and participate in the celebrations.

Another special feature of the event is the presentation of the Datia Gaurav Samman, honoring distinguished individuals from Datia for their remarkable achievements in various fields. The celebrations continue with bhajan performances, literary gatherings, religious discourses, and cultural programs showcasing the rich artistic heritage of Madhya Pradesh.
