Rainforests, Border Trails and Living Traditions
Situated in the south‑eastern corner of Arunachal Pradesh, Changlang is a destination defined by untouched rainforests, historic border routes, and vibrant tribal culture. Spread across rolling hills along the India–Myanmar frontier, the district offers travellers a rare blend of wildlife, war history, and indigenous traditions.
The name Changlang is believed to originate from the local word “Changlangkan”, meaning a hilltop where a forest herb was discovered—reflecting the region’s deep connection with nature and traditional knowledge.

Ritual prayers, drum beats, community feasts, and traditional rice beer mark the celebrations. The festival traditionally begins in Changra village and concludes at Tut village, following age‑old custom.
Visitors during this period can witness the Tutsa community dressed in distinctive hand‑woven attire, showcasing Changlang’s rich textile and weaving heritage.
