A Blend of Lights, Music, and Devotion

Nestled in the heart of Kottayam district, the Elankavu Bhagavathy Temple hosts one of Kerala’s most captivating and distinctive festivals—Attuvela Mahotsavam. This annual water carnival is a stunning spectacle that draws visitors from across the globe. Held in honor of Goddess Bhagavathy, the temple’s revered deity, the festival is rich in history and folklore, making it an unforgettable experience.

The procession begins at Attuvela Kadavu, situated 2 kilometers from the temple, where a beautifully illuminated replica of the temple is set afloat on the Muvattupuzha River. Surrounding the main temple replica are numerous small, ornately decorated canoes, each shimmering with lights and adding to the enchantment of the scene. Traditional temple percussion music fills the air, enhancing the celebratory ambiance as the procession makes its way to the temple.
