RAJIM KUMBH KALP
Prayag of Chhattisgarh
Rajim Kumbh is a major religious and cultural festival held in Rajim, Chhattisgarh. It is also popularly known as the “Prayag of Chhattisgarh.” The main centers of the festival are the Rajiv Lochan Temple and the confluence of the Mahanadi, Pairi, and Sondhur Rivers.
Rajim Kumbh is held from Magh Purnima (the full moon of the Hindu month of Magh) to Mahashivratri, usually around January-February. However, the exact dates change every year according to the Hindu lunar calendar
1. Where is Rajim Kumbh held?
Rajim is located in Chhattisgarh, approximately 45–50 km from Raipur (Capital Of Chhattisgarh)

· Kulehswar Mahadev— Kuleshwar Mahadev Temple in Rajim is an ancient Shiva temple at the confluence of the Mahanadi, Pairi, and Sondhur rivers. Rajim is also known as the “Prayag of Chhattisgarh.”According to legend, Mata Sita worshipped Lord Shiva here during her exile.During Shravan and Mahashivratri, thousands of devotees visit the temple.

2. Religious Significance
Rajim is considered an important center of worship of Lord Vishnu. The Rajiv Lochan Temple here is dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
During the Kumbh, saints, sadhus, akharas, and devotees from different parts of India and abroad gather here.
The major attractions include religious discourses, prayers and rituals, meeting saints and sadhus, and taking a holy dip at the river confluence.
The Maha Aarti at the Triveni Sangam, also known locally as the Ganga Aarti or Mahanadi Aarti, is a deeply spiritual and divine experience.
Even on regular days, the daily evening Aarti is performed at the Sangam during sunset, usually between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
Ram Van Gaman Tourism Circuit
Rajim, known as the Prayag of Chhattisgarh, is an ancient town of great religious, historical and cultural significance. Under the Ram Van Gaman Tourism Circuit Project, Rajim is being developed as a major religious tourism destination.
A grand statue of Lord Shri Ram has been installed here for tourists and devotees. The riverfront and river ghats have also been beautified.
At the entrances to Rajim, wall paintings and artworks depicting scenes from the Ramayana era have been created. For the convenience of visitors and devotees, the site also features well-developed pathways, grand entrance gates, an information centre and a cafeteria.
3. Rajiv Lochan Temple
The temple is one of the most important landmarks of Rajim. Lord Vishnu is worshipped here in his Rajiv Lochan form. Rajiv Lochan Temple is an important national monument protected by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
This historic temple dates back mainly to the 8th century CE (around 700–740 CE). It was built by King Vilasatunga of the Nala dynasty. An inscription found at the temple confirms its association with King Vilasatunga.
The architecture of the temple and the ancient religious sites in the surrounding area make Rajim not just a fairground, but an important pilgrimage destination.

The Rajim Punni Mela has been organized in Rajim since ancient times. For the past several years, the Government of Chhattisgarh has been organizing this grand religious and cultural festival as “Rajim Kumbh Kalp.”
6. When is the best time to visit?
If your main purpose is to experience the religious atmosphere and take a Snan Diwas, Sant Samagam Diwas the major Snan days are the most important occasions to visit.
7. How to reach Rajim from Raipur?
By Road:
Rajim can be easily reached from Raipur by road. Private vehicles, taxis, and buses are available.
By Train:
For visitors coming from outside, Raipur is a convenient major railway hub, after which you can travel to Rajim by road.
By Air:
The most convenient airport is Swami Vivekananda Airport, Raipur. From the airport, you can travel to Rajim by road.
8. What should first-time visitors keep in mind?
· There can be very large crowds on the main bathing days.
· It is better to arrive early in the morning.
· Take extra care of children and elderly people in crowded areas.
· Carry drinking water, necessary medicines, and identification documents.
· Use parking areas and traffic routes designated by the administration.
· While bathing in the river, use only the designated safe bathing areas.
· Respect local rules, customs, and religious traditions.
9. How much time should you spend?
One day:
Rajiv Lochan Temple + Triveni Sangam + Mela area can generally be covered in one day.
Two days:
Better if you want to comfortably experience the religious and cultural programs.
Three days:
