Meera Mahotsav 2026: A Celebration of Devotion, Poetry and Rajasthan’s Living Heritage

In the historic land of Chittorgarh, where tales of courage, devotion and sacrifice have been woven into the very identity of Rajasthan, Meera Mahotsav 2026 will celebrate the timeless legacy of Sant Meera Bai on 25th and 26th October 2026.

Meera Bai remains one of India’s most revered poet-saints. Her life was defined by an extraordinary devotion to Lord Krishna and an unwavering spirit that transcended the social conventions of her time. Through her soulful poetry and bhajans, she expressed a love that was deeply personal, spiritual and universal. Centuries later, her verses continue to resonate with people across generations, languages and regions.

The two-day Meera Mahotsav will bring this timeless legacy alive through a vibrant celebration of music, poetry, devotion and the rich cultural traditions of Rajasthan. The festival will create an atmosphere where the soulful compositions of Meera Bai meet the expressive traditions of Indian classical and folk music, offering visitors a deeply immersive cultural experience.

Chittorgarh provides a fitting setting for a festival dedicated to Meera Bai. The city is synonymous with the glorious history of Mewar and is home to the magnificent Chittorgarh Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of India’s most iconic symbols of valour and heritage. The historic landscape of the city adds a unique dimension to the celebrations, bringing together the powerful stories of Rajasthan’s past with the spiritual legacy of one of its most beloved saints.

During the festival, visitors can look forward to soulful musical performances, devotional presentations, cultural programmes and artistic interpretations inspired by Meera Bai’s life and poetry. The melodies of bhajans and traditional compositions will create a spiritual ambience, while folk performances will showcase the vibrant artistic traditions that have flourished across Rajasthan for centuries.

Meera Bai’s poetry is not merely a collection of devotional verses; it is a powerful expression of love, surrender, faith and inner freedom. Her fearless devotion and unwavering individuality have made her an enduring symbol of spiritual strength. Her songs continue to be sung in homes, temples, concerts and cultural gatherings, keeping her voice alive through generations.

Meera Mahotsav 2026 also offers visitors an opportunity to explore the cultural richness of Chittorgarh. A visit to the city during the festival can be complemented by exploring its magnificent fort, historic palaces, temples, towers and other heritage landmarks. The experience becomes a journey through the many layers of Rajasthan’s identity, where history, spirituality, architecture, music and living traditions come together.

The festival further highlights the importance of preserving and celebrating India’s intangible cultural heritage. By bringing traditional music, poetry and folk expressions to the forefront, Meera Mahotsav creates a platform for artists and audiences to connect with the cultural traditions that continue to shape Rajasthan’s identity.

This October, Chittorgarh will invite visitors to experience the enduring spirit of Meera Bai through music, devotion and culture. Meera Mahotsav 2026 is a celebration of a voice that continues to inspire, a poetry that continues to move hearts and a legacy that remains eternal.
