A mansion of wax figurines

When you think of Ooty, what comes to your mind? A beautiful hill station, breathtaking natural landscapes, tea plantations, gushing waterfalls and the like, right? However, that’s not all Ooty has to offer! Hidden amidst the lush green panorama lies a 130-year-old mansion inviting you to experience something beyond the beauty of nature.

Welcome to the Wax Museum of Ooty! This lovely treasure trove is a vibrant showcase of India's culture, village lifestyle, and prominent figures, all captured in incredible wax sculptures. Created by the visionary Shreeji Bhaskaran, an IIT professional and businessman, the museum invites you to pose with the displays, take pictures, and create unforgettable memories. Imagine standing among famous personalities such as India’s freedom fighters, renowned spiritual leaders and even deities!

Let’s explore and discover the fantastic experience that Ooty’s Wax Museum has in store for us!

Witness immersive and interactive displays

The Wax Museum features incredible wax statues of freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Subash Chandra Bose, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, and Gopal Krishna Gokhale. You'll also see wax statues of former Indian President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, former American President Barack Obama, and other renowned personalities like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Rabindranath Tagore, Sir M Visvesvaraya, and Mother Teresa. Oh, and don't forget the wax figures of Lord Krishna and Sai Baba of Shirdi. It's like your own meet-and-greet with Indian and international legends – wax style!

But the museum is not just about history - there's also an exhibit raising awareness about the harmful effects of drunken driving. You will even find wax figures showing people engaged in agricultural activities and pottery. Each figure has plaques detailing their achievements and significance, making it a super cool learning experience for everyone.

Discover beautiful gems nearby

After a fascinating visit to the Wax Museum, how about exploring more? There are plenty of exciting and beautiful places to visit in Ooty! For instance, just a 6-minute drive away is the Government Museum, where the tribal history and cultural background of the indigenous people are carefully documented, preserved, and displayed. If you venture about 2 km from the Wax Museum, you will discover the Tea Museum or Tea Factory. And if you're looking for some quiet moments, the nearby St. Stephen's Church is a remarkable landmark embellished with beautiful stained-glass windows and antique features!
