The pride of Ooty

Perched on the slopes of Elk Hill in Ooty lies a gem that proudly stands among the only 35 rose gardens worldwide, honoured with the prestigious Garden of Excellence Award by the World Federation of Rose Societies.

Welcome to the enchanting Rose Garden! Set in a unique tropical mountain climate, this floral haven is a vibrant tapestry of colour and fragrance. This garden was created to celebrate the Centenary Flower Festival in 1995 and features varieties of rose species such as hybrid tea roses, floribunda, and polyantha roses. Many visitors flock to Ooty throughout the year, even during winter months, to witness the breathtaking beauty of over twenty thousand rose varieties that grace this exquisite garden. It is also hailed as one of the finest in the country.

So what are you waiting for? Unleash your inner explorer and dive into the beauty of the Rose Garden. You might just end up leaving with your heart blooming as beautifully as the flowers!

A paradise of roses

Prepare to be dazzled as you enter this glorious 4-hectare wonderland filled to the brim with roses! As you meander through the extravagant displays, you will be blown away by the likes of rambler roses and some truly extraordinary specimens.

You will also find yourself underneath charming rose tunnels and stylish pergolas, all draped with vibrant climbing roses that invite you to explore. And don’t forget to scale the Nila Maadam, the observation platform that promises panoramic views of this blooming wonderland.

But the real treat? The sheer artistry of the garden's layout and flower arrangements. It’s like walking through a living canvas, just begging for a picture or two (or a hundred)! Take a moment to appreciate the heart and soul that went into creating this magical place, where hard work meets a passion for roses from across the globe. And when you think it’s all over, the sunset casts a golden hue over the blossoms. You’ll find it’s the perfect romantic setting - just you, your special someone, and an ocean of roses around you.
