Flora, fauna, and fun
Imagine towering canes and majestic bamboo swaying gently in the breeze. At the same time, the fragrant Michelia Champaca perfumes the air with its intoxicating scent and the Duabanga, Schima Wallachia, Terminalia, and Gmelina Arborea abound as warm, vibrant company. But beautiful plants and flowers are only a part of the charm. A diverse array of fauna calls Tawi Wildlife Sanctuary home. Here, the jungle resonates with the calls of the wild, hinting at the presence of creatures such as the jungle cat, serow, and hoolock gibbon. Meanwhile, troops of Rhesus macaques swing through the canopy, while Kalij pheasants, jungle fowls, common partridges, and hill mynas adorn the forest sky with their colourful plumage. From the majestic tiger and elusive leopard to the graceful sambar and spirited barking deer, this sanctuary is a nature enthusiast's dream.
All this adventuring will leave you a bit winded, so you'd be relieved to know that the sanctuary offers an inspection hut in the Hualtu Range H.Q. Two rooms, adorned with four cosy beds, provide a haven for weary travellers, inviting them to rest beneath the endless sheet of stars. Incredible, isn't it?
