Nagpur's revered Shri Ganesh Tekdi Temple is an ancient Hindu shrine located atop a hill along Station Road and known as Takdicha Ganapati (another name for Lord Ganesha), the god of wisdom and obstacles. Boasting more than 250 years of history, this revered Hindu shrine pays homage to Lord Ganesha as its primary deity; his statue features exquisite gold and silver ornaments for an eye-catching sight!
The Tekdi Ganapati Temple is an oasis of devotion. Worshippers visit from dawn until midnight each day to pay their respects to Lord Ganesha, with Sankashti Chaturthi being an especially busy time. Additionally, its unique tradition involves conducting three daily lamp-waving rituals (Arti) followed by giving out Modaka offerings to devotees as an offering from its divine deities.
At first a modest tin roofed structure with a small platform, this temple underwent radical change when the Military Defence Wing took charge and initiated renovations in 1970. Construction on the Ganapati Temple started in 1978 with contributions from devotees as well as additional land from the Ministry of Defence due to its immense popularity.
