A Window into Parsi Heritage

The Framji Dadabhoy Alpaiwalla Museum, set up in 1954, is the place for you if you’re curious about the rich cultural history of the Parsi community. Located in Mumbai’s Khareghat Colony, the museum celebrates the heritage of Parsis and Iranian Zoroastrians with a wide-ranging collection of artifacts. From Sir Dadabhai Naoroji’s antique chest to a pair of specially embroidered women’s shoes used in rituals, every piece in the museum has a story to tell. You’ll also discover fascinating archaeological finds from Iran, like the ancient Astodan clay container from Susa, along with religious manuscripts, furniture with European influences, and old postcards documenting Bombay's early days.

The museum has lent priceless objects for exhibitions across the globe, to gain a wider audience for the Parsi culture. Currently undergoing restoration, the museum is set to provide an even more engaging experience, including plans for a walk-in Fire Temple to give visitors an insight into Zoroastrian worship. This small yet significant museum is a great place to take a closer look at a community that has thrived while holding on to its own unique identity.
