Where the legacy of Rao Hamir lives on
Once a bustling reservoir that showcased an intricate system of channels and tunnels drawing water from three rivers, Hamirsar has witnessed both grandeur and hardship, especially following the catastrophic earthquake of 2001 that disrupted its lifeline. However, the resilient spirit of Bhuj's community shines brightly in their successful efforts to rejuvenate this vital water source in 2003, making its waters once again pure and drinkable.
Hamirsar Lake is also a favourite picnic spot and a serene escape where nature and history beautifully intertwine. As the sun rises or sets, the boardwalk along the lake transforms into a scenic path that invites early risers and evening strollers alike to bask in its beauty. In the winter, the lake comes alive with the flutter of wings as migratory birds flock to its waters. It’s a sight that will leave you breathless!
Surrounded by marvels on all sides
Strolling along the picturesque edge of Hamirsar Lake offers a delightful way to explore the area. As you walk, you will encounter the stunning sites of Aina Mahal and Praga Mahal, the Kutch Museum, the Ramkund Stepwell, and the peaceful Ram Dhun Temple. Don't miss the exquisite Swaminarayan Temple either, which is conveniently located on the eastern side of the lake. On the western side of the lake, you'll find the majestic Sharad Baug Palace and the road leading to the royal Chhatardis, inviting you to continue your adventure!
