A Shrine Steeped in Ancient Legend
The temple’s origins are deeply rooted in antiquity, with references found in sacred texts such as the Skanda Purana. Unlike conventional temples with full-sized idols, the presiding deity here is represented by a striking silver-faced image of Kaal Bhairav. The face alone is visible through the sanctum doorway, adorned with garlands, while the rest of the icon remains draped in cloth.
Spiritual Significance & Devotional Beliefs
Worshipping Kaal Bhairav is believed to remove fear, ward off negative energies, and offer protection from unseen obstacles. Devotees often seek blessings for courage, justice, and spiritual strength. A unique ritual associated with the temple is the Bhairav Raksha Sutra, a sacred protective thread tied around the wrist as a symbol of divine safeguarding.
The temple resonates with intense spiritual energy, amplified by constant chants, ringing bells, and the steady flow of devotees offering oil, black sesame seeds, flowers, and prayers.
