A gathering of faith
The roots of Triveni Sangam stretch into the annals of Hindu mythology. According to the age-old lore, drops of nectar from the Amrit Manthan, the mythological 'Churning of the Ocean,' fell upon this very spot, infusing it with divine significance. It was at this hallowed ground that Lord Brahma performed the Prakrista Yajna, an act that led to the place's christening as Prayag, a name it has carried through the ages.
Every 12 years, the Triveni Sangam becomes the epicentre of an unparalleled spiritual congregation known as the Kumbh Mela. Here, you will witness devotees, ascetics, sages, and pilgrims converge upon this sacred site, transforming it into the largest religious gathering in the world. The devotion and fervour of this assembly are so profound that a Maha Kumbh Mela, an event held once every 144 years, is also observed here!
