Explore, discover, and connect with stories that make India truly incredible!

At the Indira Gandhi Manav Sangrahalaya Museum (IGRMS) in Karnataka you'll find three fascinating categories of exhibitions, each telling you ancient stories of different communities, their traditions, and their rich heritage. The exhibits take you on a journey through India's extraordinary cultural history, with local aspects and the enduring legacies of its people. The core of these exhibitions lies in the celebration of the bonhomie and diversity of our country, and the unity that binds us all.

IGRMS welcomes you in the historic Wellington House, right in the heart of Mysore, a charming heritage building. Here, you’ll find exhibitions that delve into the fascinating ways indigenous communities have lived in harmony with nature for centuries. These displays don’t just tell stories, they help you see the intricate connections between culture, tradition, and the environment, offering a fresh perspective on the world around us.

Educational Programmes and Activities

The museum offers hands-on activities and interactive programs; it’s a lively space where India’s traditions truly come to life. Ever wondered how artisans create their magic? The ‘Do and Learn’ program lets you see it up close. And then there’s ‘Operation Salvage’, a brilliant initiative to preserve our culture by working directly with local communities. Field workshops, and special projects add to the museum experience, making it as engaging as it is enlightening.
