A sanctuary of peace and relaxation
The Ramakrishna Ashram seamlessly blends the functionalities of an ashram and a temple. As you wander through the complex, your gaze will inevitably be drawn to the majestic 168-foot-high temple within, a striking architectural marvel designed by the talented Shri Madhukar Thakor. Taking inspiration from the esteemed Shri Ramakrishna Temple at Belur Math, originally envisioned by the visionary Swami Vivekananda, this structure is as much a feast for the eyes as a balm for the soul.
Meander through the intricately designed grounds, where you'll find an inviting library brimming with knowledge and a hospital dedicated to care, all within the same enchanting campus. The temple itself boasts an auditorium nestled beneath the grand Naat Mandir (dance hall) and a Bhoga room (a room for offerings), too.
As you approach the temple, a beautiful railing greets you, reminiscent of the stately stone fences surrounding the ancient Sanchi stupa, adding an air of historical significance. Inside, you'll be captivated by the idols of Lord Hanuman on one side and Lord Ganesh on the other, each radiating divine energy and blessings.
The Gopuram, perched above the Naat Mandir, showcases traditional artistry with its overhanging balcony - perfect for listening to the soul-stirring Shehnai that fills the air during festive celebrations. The exteriors are as impressive as the interiors, too - adorned with domes, chhatris, parapets, and windows that invite you to explore every detail.
