Urban oasis

Miramar Beach, located just 3 kilometres from Panaji, the capital city of Goa, is a coastal gem that seamlessly blends urban convenience with natural beauty. Formerly known as Gasper Dias Beach, this urban beach with stretch of golden sands has become a favourite haunt for both tourists and locals.

Confluence of waters

The beach lies at the confluence of the Mandovi River and the Arabian Sea. This unique location offers a panoramic view of the sea and glimpses of the historic Aguada Fort.

Once upon a fort

In the 17th century, there was a fort built during the Governorship of Viceroy Dom Francisco de Gama, Count of Vidigueira and the great grandson of Vasco da Gama. On completion it was called Forte da Ponte de Gasper Dias. Today, it is in ruins and only an old canon remains. The name Miramar interestingly comes from ‘Miragem de Mar – Mirage of the Sea’ after an old hotel, Hotel Miramar, that existed at that time.
