Faith and Rituals
One of the main traditions of the fair is the offering of milk at Barahkhamba Dev Sthan. Farmers from nearby villages and surrounding areas bring milk as an offering and pray for prosperity, good harvests, and the health of their cattle. The belief that Lord BarahkhambaDev protects livestock makes this worship highly significant among farmers. According to local faith, animals remain healthy and protected when milk is offered at the shrine, strengthening the spiritual bond between the farming community and the deity.
Beliefs and Community Gathering
The fair is also associated with a long-standing local belief related to the healing of sick animals. Farmers whose cattle fall ill visit the shrine, offer prayers, and tie a sacred thread in the name of the animal around its neck, seeking divine blessings for recovery. Every year, a large number of devotees and farmers gather at the fair, creating an atmosphere of faith, devotion, and community participation. The Barahkhamba Fair stands as an important cultural event that reflects the rural traditions, beliefs, and agricultural heritage of the Sehore region.
