Hemis Tsechu (Festival)
A vibrant celebration of Ladakh’s Buddhist heritage and spiritual traditions

Held annually at Hemis Monastery near Leh, the Hemis Festival commemorates the birth anniversary of Guru Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche). The festival is renowned for its sacred masked Cham dances performed by monks, colorful traditional attire, religious rituals, and cultural performances. Drawing visitors from across the world, it offers a unique glimpse into the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of Ladakh.

The Hemis Tsechu/Festival is one of the most famous Buddhist festivals in India, celebrated at Hemis Monastery, about 45 km from Leh. It commemorates the birth anniversary of Guru Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche), a revered figure in Tibetan Buddhism.
