Best Time to Visit
Day temperatures range between 10°C to 20°C. Pleasant weather; ideal for temple visits, sightseeing, and high-altitude trekking in summers from May to June. In Monsoon, there is heavy rainfall with heightened risk of landslides, slippery trails, and road blockages. Trekking inside the park is restricted or unsafe. While during winters (Nov-April) due to sub-zero temperatures, heavy snowfall, and harsh conditions. The park and temple remain closed to tourists.

By Air: Jolly Grant Airport (Dehradun) is the nearest airport (~268 km). Taxi services and buses connect the airport to Uttarkashi and Gangotri.
By Train: Rishikesh Railway Station (~249 km) and Haridwar (~275 km) are the closest major railheads.
By Road: Gangotri is well-connected via NH-34 to major Uttarakhand hubs like Rishikesh, Haridwar, Dehradun, and Uttarkashi. Private vehicles, shared taxis, and state transport buses operate regularly during the open season.
