Home to valour, magnanimity, and undying loyalty

Travel back centuries to discover tales from a glorious past at the Bhamasha Ki Haveli, Chittorgarh. Tales of a legendary warrior of great acumen named Bhamasha for whom this Fort was built. He was one of the most important ministers to the great King Maharana Pratap and fought alongside the King in the legendary Battle of Haldighati. This grand fortress stands as a testament to his unwavering dedication to the Rajput Dynasty. Not only did this great warrior help win many battles, he is also known to have given financial aid to the King himself. His contributions totalling rupees 2.5 lakh worth of gold coins played an instrumental part in financing their war effort against Mughals. Today his name remains synonymous with generosity throughout Rajasthan. So much so that generous donors are still commonly identified as 'Bhamashahs' around here. Learn all about the deft tactics that Bhamashah employed as commander of the Mewar Army. From audacious attacks on Mughal police stations, convoys and army units to dismantling their treasuries, collecting taxes from Malwa and procuring weapons for Mewar's fight for independence. His commitment was recognised by famous historians such as Colonel James Todd and Kaviraj Shyamaldas. One described him as Mewar's saviour while the other revered him as an authoritative leader.

A grandeur befitting ‘Mewar’s Saviour’

Relive the glory of rich Rajputana heritage when exploring this ancient haveli. Or what remains of it. Even though on first glance it would seem like an ordinary ruin, a keen eye would be able to detect the sense of former grandeur that it reflects. Lined with lush custard apple trees, it will take you on a path of stunning discoveries. A grandiose pillared verandah, once used for social gatherings and guest receptions, welcomes you as soon as you step inside its walls.
