Tandoori temptations

Tandoori chicken, an irresistibly succulent South Asian speciality, finds its most authentic representation in Patiala. This dish involves marinating chicken in yoghurt and spices before roasting it in a cylindrical clay oven called a tandoor; then serving it up succulent and flavourful chicken served with mint chutney as accompaniment. Chawla's Chicken Treat near Punjabi University in Patiala is particularly well known for this specialty, but you can also find this delectable treat elsewhere throughout Patiala and elsewhere throughout Punjabi University!

A rare delicacy

Kunna Ghosht, a traditional Punjabi mutton dish that's uncommon outside its native region, is an exceptional delicacy that's hard to come by outside its homeland. This flavourful treat involves slow-cooking marinated mutton pieces in an earthenware pot known as a Kunna, then cooking over an open fire for hours for tender, aromatic meat. Kunna Ghosht can also be made using chicken. Due to its labour-intensive preparation process, this treat should usually only be reserved for special events or require advance ordering in advance.

Authentic Punjabi street food

For an unforgettable taste of authentic Punjabi street food, don't miss Chole Bhature. This beloved dish consists of two elements: Chole (a spicy chickpea curry) and Bhature (deep-fried bread made from Maida flour). Complemented with onions, pickles, mint chutney and chilled lassi for cooling refreshment, Chole Bhature is available throughout Patiala; Gopal's near Leela Bhawan offers its special Chole Bhature dishes!

Sweet bliss

For the sweet tooth in all of us, Patiala offers the delicious Jalebi. This treat consists of fried batter drenched in sugar syrup for an irresistibly sweet treat! Pair Jalebi with curd or Rabri for even greater indulgence - there are various sweet shops throughout Patiala offering their version; one such establishment can be found near Adalat Bazar by Jaggi Sweets and Restaurants offering one of its best versions!

Refresh with Lassi

On hot days, nothing beats a cool glass of Lassi for cooling off and satisfying thirst! This traditional Punjabi beverage made with yoghurt comes in both sweet and salty varieties; the sweet versions are more commonly known as Meethi Lassi, which is creamy with cardamom, saffron, and dry fruit flavourings; however, saltier varieties such as Patiala Shahi Lassi near Sheran Wala Gate provide more variety, making for an excellent midday snack or thirst quencher.

Patiala offers an exciting culinary journey through its lively and diverse flavours of Punjab. No matter your palate preference - be it spicy curries, succulent tandoori dishes or sweet treats - Patiala has something deliciously tempting for every palate imaginable - come experience its irresistible tastes today!
