See the World Differently at the Museum of Art and Photography

If you’re in Bengaluru and looking for history, culture, and creativity, the Museum of Art and Photography (MAP) is the place to be! Located in the heart of the city, MAP is home to an incredible collection of over 60,000 artworks, ranging from paintings and sculptures to textiles and photographs. Spanning six stories, the museum has interactive digital centres, a research and conservation lab, a chic café, a rooftop restaurant, and a shop for art lovers. MAP is where you will find art dating back to the 10th century along with the most modern amenities.

What truly sets MAP apart is the building’s unique steel-panel facade that resembles an industrial water tank, the perfect metaphor for storing something as precious as art. MAP welcomes visitors of all abilities, earning it the prestigious Universal Design Award. At the heart of MAP’s story is Abhishek Poddar, whose lifelong passion for Indian art laid the foundation for this amazing museum. From early mentorship by renowned artist Manjit Bawa to building relationships with famous artists like Tyeb Mehta and Arpita Singh, Poddar’s vision of making art accessible to all is clearly visible here.

Education programmes are designed here to inspire creativity and spark curiosity across all age groups. Whether it’s workshops for school students, capacity-building sessions for teachers, or public lectures on a variety of topics, there’s always something exciting happening here. At MAP, we believe art is a universal language, and through these programmes, we find fresh and engaging ways to connect people with our collection.
