Snowboarding

For those seeking an alternative to skiing, Gulmarg provides excellent opportunities for snowboarding.

Phase 1 links Gulmarg to Kongdoori and is reachable via the Gondola. Initiating from the base camp at nearly 9000 ft, the first stop is the Kongdoori meadow, standing at an elevation of nearly 11000 ft. Snowboard enthusiasts can carve their way down to the village from here. The Gondola journey takes approximately 9 minutes.

Phase 2 connects Kongdoori to the Apharwat peak, and can be accessed through the Gondola at an elevation of 13,000 ft. Surrounded by glaciers, the Al-Pathar Lake near the Line of Control (LOC) is an enticing 2 km trek from this point. The Gondola ride to Phase II takes approximately 12 minutes. It's worth noting that Gondola operations, running from 10 am to 5 pm during winter, may be temporarily halted due to snowstorms or adverse weather conditions.

Hiking and Trekking
