The Maharaja Surajmal Jayanti is a grand cultural celebration held in Bharatpur to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maharaja Suraj Mal, the visionary ruler of the Bharatpur Kingdom, renowned for his courage, statesmanship and remarkable contributions to the region’s history. Scheduled for 24–25 December 2026, the festival pays tribute to the legendary king through vibrant cultural performances, heritage showcases, folk traditions and community celebrations that reflect the glorious legacy of Bharatpur. Fondly remembered as the “Plato of the Jat Community” for his wisdom and administrative excellence, Maharaja Suraj Mal established Bharatpur as one of the strongest princely states of northern India during the eighteenth century. His leadership, military strategy, and commitment to good governance continue to inspire generations. The Maharaja Surajmal Jayanti serves as a tribute to his enduring legacy by celebrating the history, traditions, and cultural identity that flourished under his reign.
