Matasya Festival 2026: Celebrating the Cultural Soul of Alwar

Nestled amidst the scenic Aravalli hills, Alwar is a destination where history, culture, wildlife, and traditions come together to create unforgettable experiences. On 25th and 26th November 2026, the city will once again come alive with the vibrant celebrations of the Matsya Festival, one of Rajasthan's most eagerly awaited cultural festivals. Organized to showcase the rich heritage of the Matasya region, the festival offers visitors a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the traditions, arts, cuisine, and natural wonders of Alwar.  Named after the ancient Matsya Kingdom, one of the earliest kingdoms mentioned in Indian history, the festival pays tribute to the region's glorious past while celebrating its living cultural traditions. Over two days, Alwar transforms into a colorful stage where folk artists, craftsmen, musicians, performers, and local communities come together to present the essence of Rajasthan's cultural richness.

 

The Matasya Festival is renowned for its captivating cultural performances that showcase the artistic heritage of Rajasthan. Visitors can witness mesmerizing folk dances such as Ghoomar, Kalbelia, Bhavai, and traditional musical performances that echo through the historic landscapes of Alwar. Artists dressed in vibrant attire bring age-old stories and traditions to life, creating an immersive cultural experience. 

The festival also features local art and craft exhibitions, allowing visitors to explore the region's rich handicraft traditions. From handcrafted souvenirs and traditional textiles to intricate decorative items, the festival offers a glimpse into the craftsmanship preserved through generations.
