Marwar Festival 2026 - Celebration of Rajasthan’s Royal Folk Heritage

Held against the magnificent backdrop of the Blue City, the Marwar Festival is one of Rajasthan’s most vibrant cultural celebrations. Taking place on 24th and 25th October 2026 in the historic city of Jodhpur, the festival brings alive the spirit of the Marwar region through folk music, traditional dance, royal customs, and colourful festivities.

Originally known as the Maand Festival, the celebration is dedicated to the romantic lifestyle, bravery, and cultural legacy of Rajasthan’s rulers and warriors. Over the years, it has evolved into an immersive cultural experience that attracts travellers, artists, photographers, and heritage enthusiasts from across the world.

The Marwar region of Rajasthan has long been known for its valour, folk traditions, and poetic storytelling. The Marwar Festival reflects this rich heritage through performances that narrate tales of courage, romance, and devotion. Echoing through forts and courtyards, the soulful notes of Maand singing and the rhythmic beats of traditional instruments create an unforgettable atmosphere.

Artists dressed in vibrant turbans, mirror-work costumes, and traditional jewellery transform the city into a living canvas of Rajasthan’s cultural splendour. The festival offers visitors an opportunity to witness traditions that have been preserved for generations.

One of the major highlights of the festival is its spectacular folk performances. Renowned folk artists from across Rajasthan gather to present traditional music forms and dances unique to the desert region. Visitors can witness captivating performances such as Kalbelia dance, Ghoomar dance, Folk ballads of Maand, Camel tattoo shows, Traditional drumming performances, Puppet shows and cultural acts.

The performances often take place at iconic heritage venues, including the majestic Mehrangarh Fort and the scenic Jaswant Thada, adding grandeur to the overall experience. The Marwar Festival is also known for its lively competitions and engaging public events. These activities offer visitors a glimpse into the playful and colourful side of Rajasthan’s traditions.
