About Virasat Mahotsav

Virasat Mahotsav is a prestigious cultural festival organized annually by the Department of Culture, Government of Madhya Pradesh, in collaboration with the District Administration, Chhatarpur, and the Maharaja Chhatrasal Mahotsav Virasat Samiti, Mau Sahania. The festival is held at the Maharaja Chhatrasal Memorial Research Institute (Shauryapeeth), Mau Sahania, Chhatarpur, to commemorate the birth anniversary of the legendary Bundelkhand ruler, Maharaja Chhatrasal.

 

Celebrating the Legacy of Maharaja Chhatrasal

The festival pays tribute to Maharaja Chhatrasal, the valiant warrior king who symbolizes the pride, courage, and rich heritage of Bundelkhand. Through this annual celebration, the Department of Culture seeks to preserve and promote his inspiring legacy while introducing younger generations to his remarkable life, achievements, and contributions to the region's history and identity.

A Showcase of Bundelkhand’s Cultural Heritage

Virasat Mahotsav presents a vibrant blend of folk traditions, devotional performances, theatrical presentations, music, dance, and other artistic disciplines. The event serves as a cultural platform where artists and performers depict various facets of Maharaja Chhatrasal’s life and the rich traditions of Bundelkhand. By bringing together history, art, and community participation, the festival strengthens cultural awareness and celebrates the enduring spirit of the region.
