Against the magnificent backdrop of the world-famous temples of Khajuraho Group of Monuments, where ancient stone sculptures narrate stories of devotion, art, and human expression, unfolds one of India’s most prestigious cultural celebrations — the Khajuraho Dance Festival. Organized by the Department of Culture, Government of Madhya Pradesh with the support of Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, this iconic festival beautifully blends spirituality, architecture, music, and classical dance into an unforgettable artistic experience.

As the open sky embraces the illuminated temples and the melodies of classical instruments resonate through the air, audiences from across India and around the world gather to witness mesmerizing performances by some of the country’s finest classical dancers. The festival is not merely a cultural event; it is an immersive journey into the soul of Indian heritage.

A Legacy of Over Five Decades

The Khajuraho Dance Festival entered its 51st year as a proud symbol of India’s artistic excellence and cultural continuity. Established in 1975, the festival has been continuously organized by the Ustad Alauddin Khan Music and Arts Academy under the Department of Culture, Government of Madhya Pradesh.

Over the decades, the festival has evolved into an internationally recognized cultural platform that celebrates the richness and diversity of Indian classical dance traditions. Yet, despite its global stature, it has remained deeply rooted in the essence of Indian culture and spirituality.
