About Festival

Chhath Mohotsav 2026 is a vibrant religious and cultural celebration dedicated to Chhathi Maiya and Surya Dev, the Sun God. Observed with deep faith and devotion, the festival brings together devotees and communities to participate in traditional rituals that express gratitude to the Sun, believed to be the source of life and energy.

 

Sacred Rituals by the Water

 

The celebration is marked by traditional observances such as Nahay Khay, Kharna, Sandhya Arghya, and Usha Arghya. Devotees gather at rivers, lakes, ponds, and specially prepared ghats to offer prayers to the setting and rising sun. The beautifully decorated ghats, devotional songs, traditional offerings, and illuminated surroundings create a memorable spiritual atmosphere.

 

A Vibrant Community Celebration

 

Chhath Mohotsav brings together devotees, families, and visitors in a shared celebration of faith, tradition, and cultural heritage. Traditional Chhath songs, community participation, and the collective worship at sunrise and sunset add to the unique charm of the event. The festival offers visitors an opportunity to experience one of India's most deeply rooted living traditions and its spirit of devotion, discipline, and togetherness.
