Shri Ramrekha Mahotsav - Celebrating the Legacy of Lord Rama in Jharkhand

Located in the Pakartand Block of Simdega district in the southern division of the state of Jharkhand, Shri Ramrekha Dham is a prominent pilgrimage site situated atop Budha Pahad at an elevation of 1,312 feet above sea level. It features a naturally formed bow-shaped cave.

Shri Ramrekha Dham is a sacred pilgrimage site sanctified by the presence of Lord Rama, Goddess Sita, and Lord Lakshmana. According to local belief, the site is associated with the Treta Yuga. It is believed that during their exile, Lord Rama, Goddess Sita, and Lord Lakshmana visited Ramrekha Dham and stayed here for nearly four months during the rainy season.

Several lines are engraved on the ceiling of the cave. It is believed that these markings were drawn by Lord Rama himself, which is why the place came to be known as Ramrekha ("Rama's Line").

The Dham is a major centre of faith where devotees come with the hope of fulfilling their wishes. Owing to its spiritual significance and the scenic natural beauty surrounding it, the site is also an important religious, pilgrimage, and tourist destination.

A grand fair is organized here every year on the occasions of Kartik Purnima and Magh Purnima. The fair held during Kartik Purnima has been accorded the status of a State Tourism Festival. It attracts lakhs of visitors, not only from the local region but also from different parts of India and abroad.

In addition to these annual fairs, a large number of pilgrims, devotees, and tourists visit Shri Ramrekha Dham throughout the year for pilgrimage, worship, and sightseeing.

The Mahotsav brings together devotees, tourists, local artisans, and cultural performers from across the region. It features religious rituals, devotional programs, cultural performances, tribal folk dances, handicraft exhibitions, local cuisine, and various tourism promotion activities. The event aims to preserve the rich heritage of Ramrekha Dham, promote local culture and traditions, and boost tourism and the local economy.

Ramrekha Mahotsav serves as an important platform to showcase the unique cultural identity of Simdega while encouraging sustainable tourism and community participation.

The Ramrekha Mahotsav is held at Ramrekha Mouja, Kairbeda Mouja, Paledih Mouja and Kairbeda Panchayat, Keshalpur Panchayat.
