In addition to its cultural significance, the festival hosts a large public fair featuring handicrafts, handloom products, traditional artwork, local cuisine, agricultural exhibits and stalls by self-help groups, artisans and rural entrepreneurs. Recreational attractions such as amusement rides, exhibitions, children’s activities and entertainment programmes enhance the visitor experience, making the Mahotsav a family-oriented celebration.
Sports and adventure activities form another important component of the event, with competitions in athletics, kabaddi, volleyball, kho-kho, cycling, marathon and other indigenous games encouraging youth participation and fostering community spirit. By combining patriotism, culture, recreation and local enterprise on a single platform, Rajkiya Gantantra Mela Mahotsav plays a significant role in preserving regional traditions, strengthening social cohesion and promoting Godda as an emerging cultural and tourism destination in Jharkhand.
