Netarhat Mahotsav – Celebrating the Queen of Chotanagpur through Culture, Nature & Tribal Heritage

Netarhat Mahotsav is the flagship tourism festival of Latehar district, organised at Netarhat, popularly known as the Queen of Chotanagpur. The festival celebrates the region’s tribal heritage, folk traditions, natural beauty and adventure tourism. It features traditional tribal dances, folk music, handicraft exhibitions, local cuisine, cultural evenings, adventure activities and eco-tourism experiences. The festival attracts tourists from Jharkhand as well as neighbouring states and promotes local artisans, performers and self-help groups while showcasing Netarhat as one of eastern India’s premier hill destinations.

The festival brings together local communities, artists, musicians, craftsmen, tourists, and nature enthusiasts from across the state and beyond. It serves as a platform to promote Jharkhand’s diverse tribal traditions, folk music, dance forms, handicrafts, and indigenous cuisine. Visitors can experience captivating performances such as tribal dances, folk songs, cultural processions, and traditional sporting events that reflect the vibrant identity of the region.

One of the key attractions of the festival is its focus on eco-tourism and sustainable development. Through various exhibitions, workshops, and awareness programs, the event highlights the importance of preserving the unique biodiversity and natural resources of Netarhat. Adventure activities, nature walks, and sightseeing opportunities allow tourists to explore the area's famous attractions, including Magnolia Point, Sunrise Point, and the surrounding forests.

In essence, the Netarhat Festival is more than just a cultural event—it is a celebration of nature, tradition, and community spirit, offering visitors an unforgettable experience in one of Jharkhand’s most scenic locations.
