Experience the Sacred Heritage of Baba Khonhar Nath – A Celebration of Devotion and Culture.
Baba Khonhar Nath Mahotsav is an occasional religious and cultural festival initiated in 2024 by the Department of Tourism, Art, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Jharkhand, in collaboration with the District Administration, Garhwa. The festival aims to promote the spiritual significance of the historic Baba Khonhar Nath Temple, preserve the region's cultural heritage, and strengthen pilgrimage and rural tourism. Efforts are underway to develop the Mahotsav into a major state-level cultural event.
Baba Khonhar Nath Temple is situated in the serene surroundings of Gijna Village, Garhwa district, offering a spiritually significant and naturally picturesque setting. The temple premises serve as the venue for the Baba Khonhar Nath Mahotsav, where religious rituals and cultural programmes are organized. During the Mahotsav, the District Administration develops temporary infrastructure, including a cultural stage, seating arrangements, parking facilities, drinking water, sanitation units, medical aid, security, lighting, food stalls, and public announcement systems to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for devotees and visitors. The peaceful environment and cultural significance of the temple make it an important destination for pilgrimage, heritage, and rural tourism in Garhwa district.
