A Grand Celebration of Divine Shakti and Victory

In NTR District, the Dussehra Festival vibrantly celebrates divine feminine power, primarily centered at Vijayawada's renowned Kanaka Durga Temple on Indrakeeladri Hill. This nine-night (Navaratri) event embodies good's triumph over evil, culminating on Vijayadashami with Goddess Durga's glorious victory over the demon Mahishasura.

During Dussehra, the Kanaka Durga Temple comes alive with daily, elaborate Alankarams (special adornments) of the Goddess, each representing a distinct form of Durga. On Vijayadashami, the celebrations climax with grand processions, often including the ceremonial Teppotsavam (boat festival) of the deities on the sacred Krishna River, offering a truly captivating spiritual spectacle for all.

Key Experiences:

  • Nine nights (Navaratri) dedicated to worshipping Goddess Durga in her various manifestations.
  • Vijayadashami, the tenth day, celebrates Goddess Durga's ultimate victory over Mahishasura.
  • Special pujas, elaborate homams, and Vedic rituals are performed daily at the Kanaka Durga Temple.
