Tales that echo through the ages
Wander through the pandals and you'll uncover amazing tales that trace the history of Durga Puja here in Odisha's Kalinga province, now known as Odisha, where its rituals originated by King Suratha of Chedi Dynasty's Mahaparbana Dashami festival around 300 BCE; during Ganga Dynasty King Chodaganga Dev's 11th-century reign idol worship of Goddess Durga began and still holds today!
Back in 16th-century Cuttack, great saint Shree Chaitanya Dev Mahaprabhu ignited Durga Puja celebrations at Balu Bazaar near Ganesh Ghat on the river bank of Kathoji. This festival remains dear to local people's hearts today, celebrated with great gusto using only organic colors when painting their idol. Silver tableaux displayed within pandals represent Cuttack artisans' dedication and artistry; truly an occasion worth remembering!
