Mokokchung's ideal season for serene sightseeing

Verdant hills, the lush greens, and cleanliness of the small town that is Mokokchung, in Nagaland, makes for a pleasant sightseeing experience. September to November would be the ideal time to visit Mokokchung. The general temperature and weather conditions are ideal for taking in the natural beauty, going hiking, exploring the rolling valleys and soaking in the greens.

The mystical Langpangkong Caves of Nagaland

The Langpangkong Mountain Range includes the Langpangkong Caves. One of Nagaland's most well-known tourist destinations is Langpangkong Caves, which are close to the towns of Tuli and Changtongya in the Mokokchung District. Because of its past, the Langpangkong Caves are famous. Legend has it that the Ahom King, who ruled at the time, fled from Sivasagar during a royal altercation and sought refuge in one of Langpangkong's caves. He found refuge in a cave that is still standing and open to the public.

A natural stone bridge laden with legends and history

Longlangpa or Stone Bridge, a ridge of stones that runs through a rhododendron forest, is a natural bridge built through lush rhododendron forests. Small holes that were chiselled into the rocks so that spears could be inserted into them may be found throughout the woodland. These served as a warning to would-be assailants that they would be slain and have their heads severed. Legend has it that you can also see the footprints of Jina and Etiben of the Ao tribe. Huge "Tekulem Long" or Worship Stones, where people once offered offerings to the Stone God, are located beneath the stone bridge.
