The spiritual gem of Amarkantak

Nestled in the heart of Madhya Pradesh, Amarkantak in Anuppur is a revered Teerth and a breathtaking marvel of nature, adorned with lush mountains and a climate that enchants visitors year-round. One of its crown jewels is the Sarvodaya Jain Temple, an architectural masterpiece that captivates with its exquisite beauty.

At the heart of this sacred site lies the magnificent Ashtadhatu statue of Lord Adinath, the first Tirthankara (a revered teacher in Jainism), weighing an astonishing 24 tons. This golden statue, along with its impressive base totalling 52 tons, stands as a testament to devotion and artistry, beautifully crowned with lotus motifs. Erected on November 6, 2006, by the venerable Gyanwaridhi Acharya Shri 108 Vidyasagarji Mahamuniraj, the temple draws countless pilgrims and all who come to witness its grandeur and bask in the spiritual ambience.

Step into a sacred ambience

The temple stands as a magnificent testament to architectural artistry, lovingly constructed with lime and preserved stones. This remarkable temple complex, free from the use of cement and iron, exudes a timeless elegance that draws visitors from afar. At its centre, the enchanting mulnayak beckons worshippers and admirers alike - a stunning 24-tonne Ashtadhatu idol of Rishabhanatha, gracefully seated upon an impressive 28-tonne lotus-shaped Ashtadhatu pedestal. Towering at an awe-inspiring height of 24 feet (7.3 m), the Rishabhanatha idol assumes a serene Padmasan posture, inspiring peace and contemplation in all who encounter it.

Adding to the sacred atmosphere, a magnificent statue of Mahavira, weighing an incredible 71 tonnes, finds its home within this divine space. If you observe the temple's structure, it bears similarities to the illustrious Akshardham in New Delhi, sprawling across a sprawling 4 acres. Crafted from exquisite pink sandstone sourced from the enchanting landscapes of Rajasthan, this architectural wonder is a feast for the eyes.
