The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Police Museum in Kollam is the only museum of its kind in the country that gives you a very interesting look at how the police force has evolved over the years. As you walk through, you’ll find displays of 18th and 19th-century arms and ammunition - guns, bullets, and even old machines - that tell the story of how law enforcement operated in those times. There’s also plenty to learn about modern investigative tools, with charts on DNA tests, fingerprints, and even snapshots of police dogs. And don’t miss the incredible 1.1-ton statue of Vallabhbhai Patel, sculpted by a police constable.
One of the most moving parts of your visit will be the Martyr’s Gallery. It’s a space dedicated to honouring the brave officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, a powerful reminder of the courage and commitment behind the uniform. You’ll also see medals awarded to officers of various ranks, each one carrying its own story of dedication and service. This museum connects you with stories of law enforcement and the people who’ve worked tirelessly to uphold justice.
