A name rooted in history

Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary's name has its roots in history; the Asola village near Tughlakabad in Delhi National Capital Region provides its namesake while "Bhatti '' represents traditional inhabitants who engaged in mining activity prior to its establishment as a wildlife sanctuary. Bagirnath village within this mines region served as refugee settlement during India-Pakistan partition and legal proceedings have begun for their relocation.
