The enigmatic leopard and lake
One of the sanctuary's remarkable stories is its role as part of the Northern Aravalli leopard wildlife corridor, providing passage for these graceful creatures between Rajasthan's Sariska National Park and Delhi Ridge. Witnessing them in their natural habitat is truly unforgettable; also present is Neeli Jheel Lake which draws photographers as an incredible backdrop; also, being home to birds of prey as well as winter migrating species makes this destination perfect for birdwatching enthusiasts alike.
A name rooted in history
Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary's name has its roots in history; the Asola village near Tughlakabad in Delhi National Capital Region provides its namesake while "Bhatti '' represents traditional inhabitants who engaged in mining activity prior to its establishment as a wildlife sanctuary. Bagirnath village within this mines region served as refugee settlement during India-Pakistan partition and legal proceedings have begun for their relocation.
An oasis for all seasons
At the Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary, there are multiple events throughout the year to commemorate and appreciate its natural splendour. Wildlife Week raises awareness about conservation while February's Nature Photography Festival highlights its beauty through photography. In December's Bird Watching Festival enthusiasts from all over the globe gather. And during summer vacation camps for children are held as well, instilling an appreciation of nature into them.
