Where Nature Meets Wildlife Wonder

Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park popularly known as S.V. Zoological Park is one of India’s most impressive and eco-friendly wildlife destinations. Spread across a vast natural landscape, this zoological park offers visitors a rare chance to experience animals in habitats that closely resemble their wild homes. For nature lovers, families, photographers, and wildlife enthusiasts, this park is a must-visit attraction in Andhra Pradesh.

A Touch of Mythology

Themed around Indian Mythology, the Zoo showcases the importance of wild animals in ancient texts like the Ramayana, Mahabharata, Puranas, Vedas, and Upanishads. It promotes nature conservation and highlights the role of animals and plants in Indian culture.

At the entrance, visitors are greeted by statues of Lord Vishnu’s incarnations—Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, and Narasimha, reflecting the mythological theme of the Zoo. A statue of Lord Ganesha, the God of wisdom and symbol of the elephant, is also installed near the entrance and is part of the Zoo’s logo.

An inscription at the entrance reads: "Beejam maam sarvabhootanam" – “I am the eternal seed of all creation,” emphasizing that God exists in all living beings.

Rich and Diverse Wildlife

The zoo is home to a wide variety of animals, birds, and reptiles from India and other parts of the world. Visitors can see majestic big cats like lions, tigers, and leopards, along with elephants, bears, wolves, hyenas, and wild dogs. Graceful herbivores such as deer, antelopes, giraffes, and zebras roam in spacious enclosures that mirror their natural habitats.

Bird lovers can enjoy the vibrant aviaries featuring peacocks, parrots, pelicans, storks, and water birds, while reptile sections showcase crocodiles, snakes, and turtles. Each enclosure includes informative boards that help visitors learn about the animals, their habits, and conservation status.

Popular Attractions Inside the Park

One of the highlights of the zoo is the Lion Safari, where visitors can observe lions roaming freely while safely traveling through the area in designated vehicles. The Bear Moat is another unique attraction, offering a clear view of sloth bears in a natural setting.

The Butterfly Park adds color and charm, with beautifully landscaped gardens that attract different butterfly species. There is also a Children’s Park, making the zoo enjoyable for younger visitors and families.

Focus on Conservation and Education

Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park plays an important role in wildlife conservation, rescue, and breeding programs. The park works to protect endangered species and spread awareness about the importance of preserving nature. Educational programs, signboards, and guided tours help visitors understand how small actions can make a big difference in protecting wildlife and the environment.

A Visitor-Friendly Experience

Well-laid pathways, shaded rest areas, drinking water facilities, and electric vehicles make exploring the large park comfortable and convenient. Early mornings and cooler months are ideal for spotting active animals and enjoying pleasant weather.

Located just a short drive from Tirupati city and the famous Tirumala temple, the zoo fits perfectly into a travel itinerary that blends spiritual, cultural, and nature-based tourism.
