As the name suggests, The Jang-e-Azadi Memorial is a museum that was erected as a tribute to the freedom fighters of Punjab. Talk about the struggle for independence and a layman can name a few freedom fighters right off the bat. However, freedom was not achieved only by a handful of people. There is a multitude of patriotic people who played their part in overthrowing the foreign power. Established in 2014, this museum cum memorial aims to educate people about the rich culture and heritage and sing praises of the ‘sons of the soil’ and the unsung heroes of Punjab. It spans over 25 acres and features mesmerising architecture that portrays the spirit of resistance and independence. Standing 45 metres high, the ‘Shaheed-e-Minar’ is an unmiussable landmark. The museum houses galleries that contain photos, documents and artefacts that signify the courage of the freedom fighters.
