Restoring our legacy

Over five years, INTACH led an ambitious restoration effort with support from Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai and Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation to bring back to life the former splendour of this museum - while maintaining its historical importance for future generations. Their hard work was recognized when they received the international Award of Excellence for Cultural Conservation from UNESCO.

Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum has become an integral part of Mumbai's cultural landscape since reopening its doors in 2008. Its exhibition program highlights its rich collection, placing particular emphasis on contemporary art and culture. International institutions collaborated with this museum further amplifying its role in the global art scene.
